Many people across the globe have different ways of mourning the dead. While most foreign countries hold a simple burial ceremony for the deceased, it is quiet different in Africa.
Aside Muslims who bury the dead almost the same day in a simple ritual, other denominations have their own way.
When it comes to Ghana for instance, Akans are known for performing lavish funeral rites for their deceased. Depending on the family the person is coming from, a funeral rites can go on for three months.
During these rites, a lot of money goes into it because there is a lot of cooking, paying for DJs, renting chairs, Canopies which can run the family into serious financial crisis.

Well, reacting to this, Nollywood actress and Philanthropist, Kate Henshaw has quizzed why a lot of money is spent on burying the dead when that money could be used to take care of the family still alive.
Taking to her Twitter page, Kate Henshaw wrote;
* We pay service to the words in our holy book. Why are you burying the dead in a tiled grave, 24 hours electricity and such an expensive coffin. Are they expected to wake and move around?”
